Interailling through Europe - Travel Advice

Excuse the sassy photo! This was taken somewhere along the boarder with Austria and as you can see I'm enjoying a crisp or two! We decided to go inter-railing to see some more countries and get to visit more places in one go. Flying out every time you want to visit a city is not the most eco friendly thing to do either - so 3 cities in 6 days appealed to me. Our route was Prague - Vienna - Budapest and I couldn't recommend it enough.

While we were out their we learned a few things I wish I had known before-hand that I think would be really useful for any inter-railers - especially if you are visiting Eastern Europe.

1. Buy a ticket before you get to the Train station. This is something we found quite confusing, and , depending on how many countries you are visiting I would reccomend doing this. I am not sure however if I would recommend the actual interail passes as when we looked it seemed more expensive than just getting a ticket while you were out there. Make sure you tailor this to your journey!

2. Download Bolt and Uber. Bolt is the eastern Europe equivalent and a must for going anywhere in Hungary.

3. Things are not as cheap as you would think. Travelling Europe, even eastern Europe is expensive; we have all heard the tails of £1 a paint in Prague but this does not extend to everything in the country. Meals out and attractions were still roughly the same price as the UK we found.

4. Dress comfortably. This may sound obvious but we saw a lot of travelors who were dressed up and had loads of bags. We took one rucksack and I would say that is all you need unless you are going for a long time. There is nothing worse than having to run with loads of massive bags for a train.

5. Watch those check in and out times! We ended up having a stress on the last day as out Air BnB wanted us out in the morning and out flight was not till the evening... they were so lovely about it though and let us hide our bags in a cubourd till later on. Something to watch out for!

6. Schedule down time. Even though our traveling adventure was 6 days I felt exhausted by the end of it! On the last day we went for a spa experience in Budapest and it was lovely just to have a few hours to relax somewhere without having to rush off
