How To Enhance Your Femininity With Organic And Natural Products

Firstly, I wanted to define my thoughts on femininity. It you have followed me for a while you might have seen I have been writing more and more about femininity; as over the last couple of years I have been on my own personal journey with reconnecting with my feminine side and understanding what that means. For myself, this has meant admitting and coming to terms with some home truths that I had spent a long time denying. It has also meant becoming more connected to my inner creativity, softness and nurturing nature, allowing myself to be comfortable being in that state.

Part of getting in touch with my inner femininity has also been to nurture and protect my beauty and health. This is a key element of getting in touch with your femininity as it is a vital part of nurturing your own body and building confidence in your outer beauty.

For myself natural and organic products are key to achieving this. Many products that are currently sold to women through the beauty and diet industry can actually be quite damaging for our health. Many of them contain damaging chemicals like formaldehyde or other substances that can cause skin rashes and disrupt our hormones. Incorporating natural products into my life has allowed me to minimize my exposure to some of these chemicals and start learning more about how to balance my own hormones naturally through certain activities.

1. Avoid toxic period products

Something that is not often talked about is that most period products are actually toxic and can be dangerous (toxic shock syndrome). Switching to a more natural alternative like Pixie Cup or organic period products is an essential way of protecting your feminine health.

Using a Pixie cup is a great way of minimizing waste while also protecting your health (full Review coming soon). If this is not for you then there are some great organic alternatives to conventional period products! Read my review of some organic tampons and towels here.

2. Invest in high quality organic skincare

Something I have just started to learn is the importance of really taking care of your skin. 2020 was the year of leveling up my skincare for me and it really has made a difference. Choosing natural and cruelty free skincare is an essential for me as I only want the best ingredients from responsible companies. Skincare and nurturing and caring for my natural beauty is an essential part of my femininity journey. Using high quality products like those from Green People ensure that not only am I caring for my skin but I am caring for the environment and the natural world around me.

Green People have been kind enough to gift me this stunning Midnight Oil with a Gua Sha stone and One Balm which I have been trying out on my skin. The Midnight Oil hydrates and plumps the skin and boosts collagen - perfect for a dry dull complexion. I have been using it with the Gua Sha to improve skin firmness and so far I have been pleased with the results. I have only tried this out in the PM as I get an oily t-zone anyway so I don't like to use too much oil on my face. I do feel like it has helped with firmness and helps with my dry cheeks.

The One Balm by Green People comes in the UKs first biodegradable pot and is cruelty free and organic. I have been using it on my knees and elbows as I often get dry skin there, and, one of the things I have noticed is the smell. It smells divine! Made with Myrrh Frankincense, Pomegranate and Rose-hip the smell is heavenly!

3. Switch your Bedding and nightwear to Organic Cotton

This is something I am forever going on about! Switching your nightwear and bedding to Organic cotton and sustainable materials is really important. Plastic leaches endocrine disruptions which impact the natural functioning of our hormonal systems. Spending 8 hours bathed in hormone disrupters is not good for our bodies so switching to natural fibers is a must! An essential part of learning about femininity for me was learning about how to protect my hormones and how to use them for stress management and emotional stability. Switching to natural fibers for bedtime was a key part of that.

4. Bamboo Hair Brush

I am obsessed with hair care and for me it is a key part of looking feminine. I don't think that women with short hair can't look feminine, as there are some stunning women who can rock a short haircut and make it look beautiful. Foe me however, I love having long hair and the longer the better. Making sure I take good care of my hair is therefor very important. A bamboo or wooden hairbrush a must have if you are looking to maintain stunning hair, as the wood soaks in the oils from your hair and distributes them when you brush. This moves oils further down your hair folical conditioning them and making sure all the oils don't just sit on your scalp.

5. Natural Deodorant

We all want to smell nice and luckily in the past few years natural deodorants have come so far that none now has to compromise. Most large deodorant brands contain things like Aluminum and have been linked to breast cancer.  Switching to a more natural deoderant can help protect you and limit the toxins you are exposed too. We often forget that the skin is a large organ and is very absorbent. We can absorb chemicals and tastes and smells just through touching something on our skin. As women are skin is also different to men's skin and is much more sensitive, something important to remember.

6. Cotton or Bamboo Underwear

This can be quite a difficult one to take on board and it is something I still struggle with but the benefits of switching to cotton or bamboo for your underwear are well documented. I personally still struggle with this, mainly down to the price point BUT it is something I am working towards.

Wearing natural underwear allows you to breath and sweat naturally absorbing sweat and smells. Wearing synthetic underwear does not absorb anything and leads to sweaty bits.

7. Lavender oil

Getting a good nights sleep does wonders for both mental and physical health and staying in a feminine mindset. I personally struggle with sleeping well when I am stressed which then in turn makes me more stressed. One natural way I have found of helping me to sleep is using lavender. I personally use lavender oil in an old spray bottle in my room or put a few drops in an evening bath. Although it is not as potent as sleeping tablets you don't feel as groggy in the morning. Lavender tea can also be a brilliant way of relaxing your mind and finding your inner peace and grace before bed.

8. Supplements

Getting the right supplementation can help you balance your natural hormones and enhance your feminine beauty. For me enhancing your femininity should never be about making yourself into an Instagram model or a Kardashian; rather it should be a way of enhancing and protecting all your natural beauty that god has given you.

Supplements are a key way of enhancing your health and I personally love to take supplements every morning. One of my favorites that I use daily has been this Youth Fountain from ALLKME. They are all organic and make natural health enhancing supplements.

I have been trying to do a fair amount of research on supplements and hormones to practice ways to reduce stress and learn how hormones contribute to stress and imbalance in the body. One of my favorite websites with LOADS of information can be found here MarsVenus.com

9. Natural make up

Switching to natural make up is another way that I have enjoyed enhancing my femininity. I used to have a lot of troubles with my skin and it is something I have been quite insecure about. Switching to natural make up has minimized the irritation and breakouts I get from things like minerals in make up and chemicals that would make rashes and blotchy-ness flair up.

Learning what really works for my skin-type has helped enhance my confidence and I know now how it will stay on my skin through the day. It has also helped me switch my mindset from using makeup to 'hide' and 'cover' to using it to 'show off' and 'enhance' the features on my face that I like.

10. Natural nails

One of my first stops on my cruelty-free journey was to change my nail varnish to natural nail varnishes. As I said at the beginning, so many products aimed at women have toxic chemicals in them that will damage our natural beauty in the long run. Nails are a key way you can stop putting harmful toxic chemicals in your body and that will help you grown nicer nails in the long run. One of my favorite natural nail varnish brands  is Nail Berry who make stunning natural breathable nail-varnish. Feel free to see a review I did of spring colors here.
