Let me just preface this by saying, before I barely had a skincare routine. Since heading full-pelt into my late 20s I have decided to focus more on a good solid skincare routine. Heading into this world of serums and AHA and acids has all been pretty new, but I still wanted to share what I have learnt so far and how I have create a routine to prepare me for the big 30.
Sun cream
Yes, I know, I never really wore it before and it is bad but this has been the biggest change to my morning skincare routine. One of my reasons for not suing sunscreen is I didn't want a greasy or smeary white face. I also didnt really think I needed to use it as it is not often sunny here. I did however change my mind after listening to some older skincare Youtubers talk about this and decided to try some out.
I decided to try the one from the Body Shop that also contained Vitamin C as I wanted to add this to my new routine as well as my skin can get quite dull. So far I have been fairly happy with the results and for a more detailed review click here.
Serum
Using a facial serum has been a game changer for me. I was going to try the Super Greens ones from Tropic but as I had not used one before I decided to try a cheaper one from Sukin to see if I liked it. So far I have absolutely loved this and use it every morning and evening. It was a third of the price and it has been lovely to put on my skin under my moisturizer.
Eye care
Over the past year I have seen more lines appear around my eyes, and, where as I once regarded eye cream as a waste of money I now use it morning and night. I have been using the Drops of Youth from the Body Shop as it was not too expensive and it is cruelty free (as everything on my blog is). So far I have been pretty happy with it, however I have notice it goes a little bit flaky under make up unless I am careful about how I put it on. I have been trying to use it morning and night for optimum effect.
Gentle Cleanse
I used to use a quite abrasive cleaners 2x a day and it just increased the levels of oil in my skin. I switched this to be a gentle cream cleanser or just a splash of water in the morning and left the harder rough scrubs for the nighttime only. I have seen the amount of oil in my skin reduce over the past few months which has helped with spots. Some nice gentle cleansers I have been using lately are the on from Skin linked below or the Sleepy cleanser
I am not an expert in skincare AT ALL and I would love to hear about your skincare routines or any tips you have for taking care of your skin :)
