48 Hours in London - What we did saw and ate

So what to do with 48 hours in London? We decided to go for a weekend in London and take advantage of  some of the lock-down deals that have been on. So we booked a hotel, planned an itinerary and off we went!

I got to London late afternoon and the first point of call was a shower and getting ready for the night ahead. We went to dinner at the Sky Garden Darwin Brasserie and were swiftly seated and ordered the house cocktail. The price was London-ish but still fairly reasonable; which was one of the reasons we booked this restaurant, none wants to pay £40 for pasta. We ordered our food and I can confirm that it was worth the money we paid. I had the chicken and it was beautiful, it a light but rich sauce cooked to perfection it fell off the bone. Everyone enjoyed the food and drink and I would recommend eating here if you are going to London. The skyline view of central London is the cherry on top of the cake and makes the venue quite stunning.

After Sky Garden we caught an Uber to Ballie Ballerson to have a few cocktails. I had never been here or even heard to if before but it is basically a bar with ball-pits. They were very stringent with their Covid -19 restrictions however, we still had a good time. All the cocktails were half price (winning!) and if you have ever been out in London you will know this is important as many places will now charge upwards of £15 a drink.

We had a few exciting looking cocktails and swam around in the ball pit in our masks for 30 minuets - excellent fun!

The next day we trotted off for brunch to fill our belly's at Dishoom before a day of activities. I rather enjoyed Dishoom as well and had a full English (of course) and a couple of coffees; the atmosphere was lovley and I would recommend coming here for breakfast time if you are in London.

The only negative I would mention, if the service change. For some reason eateries in London have decided to start doing this and it grinds my gears. I also find it very aggressive and un-british and I refuse to pay. I don't understand why it has become acceptable to put money on the bill for walking 10 foot. If I knew I would be expected to pay £4.50 to have breakfast brought to me I would have walked into the kitchen and got it myself. You don't have to pay this and if you are willing to bear the uncomfortable conversation with a soon to be pissed off server - good for you!

We then headed off to the Natural History Museum for a look around and it was beautiful. It was a pity many of the exhibitions were closed. Next time I would love to visit the Victoria and Albert next-door which also looks beautiful. We then went around Camden Market and grabbed some street food before a night on the town.

One of the biggest changes since lock-down has been the need to book everything beforehand. We booked a few bars to go to and if you are visiting London anytime soon I would recommended you do this and plan in advance or you will be in for a less enjoyable night. We went out in SoHo which is slightly more expensive but still very enjoyable. I decided to drink the house cocktails and the cheaper things on the menus but both were still delicious and not too cheap at £10-12 a drink.

Looks like you got to do a lot with little time! :) I went to London a few years ago, and I'd love to go back soon.
