Get Involved In Plastic Free July!

So this year I have decided to get involved once again in plastic free July. Although I have made many changes in my life already, this year I really wanted to take this even further.

If you are interested in learning more about plastic pollution on the whole then please read my other post here. This explains why it is important. For 2020 I will be looking at some of the areas where I still use a lot of plastic and the swaps/changes I can make.

I have already this past year:

1. Swapped out my water bottles and coffee cups
2. started using reusable make up remover pads
3. Swapped to bamboo for many other household items like ear pokers
4. Started shopping at the zero waste shop.

However, for myself this Plastic Free July I have set the challenge of replacing a lot of my cleaning and other items for the home with natural and plastic free alternatives. This is one area that I have struggled with as even though I have used method and other low waste cleaning solutions I have found it hard to get hold of the refillable sachets. This is a problem as I generally just end up buying bottles and bottles of plastic 'eco' cleaner!

Another area where I would like to cut down on waste is on my fresh produce. Although I go to the zero waste shop, this is mainly for dried goods not fresh produce. When I go to the supermarket I often feel like I have to choose between British grown produce and loose items. I will always choose locally grown food, but I wish I didn't have to make that choice!

Household items like binbags, candles, razors and toilet rolls are also on my list of things I would like to swap out. Along with cleaning clothes and sponges. If you are also looking to make some swaps make sure you have a look at World of Bamboo and Net Zero company as well as some of the items below.

(if you are new to the world of zero waste I would recommend these by WOB to get you started! Not an affiliate link but I have tried them out and I think all their products are brill and good value!)

I will also be doing litter picks in my local area as we have a massive problem with litter. Some of it is from local people but as we get a lot of tourism we also get a lot of people littering - drives me wild!

If you are getting involved with Plastic Free July this year make sure you share with me what you will be doing and the changes you are looking to make! I am planning lots of interesting content around the topic, so if you would like to know more please sign up to my newsletter!

I will be participating in Plastic Free July for the third time this year and I am SO excited! :) I will be moving across my state mid-July, so my main goals this month are to minimize my plastic usage as I move!
