After nearly 5 years of making small incremental lifestyle changes, I thought I would write a post on moving away from living a life where you are completely plugged in to, what I like to call, the globalist system. Although I am not living what Americans would say is a 'off grid' lifestyle, there are quite a few things I like to do to live counter culturally. Some of these I found to be helpful by accident and the more I changed little actions, the more I gained mental clarity on the global consumerist culture that I don't want to be part of. Living in alignment with the modern culture in the West is, in my opinion, a recipe for both physical and mental sickness along with financial enslavement. I hope you enjoy my list, most I have done but a couple I am still working on... change takes time!
1. Stop watching TV
Classic! But TV shows and adverts are ways of pushing politics and a world view that can be quite insidious. You also end up not being outside in nature and spending more time indoors which is not good. I don't watch TV and I try not to watch Netflix or any other streaming service. I have a few shows that I enjoy and I did like watching the Wheel of Time and The Witcher recently. The time you spend watching TV I think it has also enabled me to spot political indoctrination more easily and has actually really helped me feel less anxious. The only bad thing is I find it difficult to keep track of what is going on in the world so I do have a couple of sources including the GB News app just encase I want to check if something important has happened.
2. Get Control of Your Money
'You Will Own Nothing and You WILL Be Happy' If you still are not aware of what is happening and the large wealth transfer that is underway you need to get up to speed. Regardless of how much money you make, getting control of it is essential especially this year as I would estimate we have only about a year till we have another recession. If you have savings and are not planning on buying a house or doing something with them soon I would put this money into gold. This is something a few members of my family have recently been advised to do in the UK. Also, make sure you are not wasting money anywhere... this is a big one for me and I have been cutting back on my subscriptions and monthly outgoings for the past couple of months...but I still have more to do. Most working class people like myself are not good with money, YouTube and even taking a trip to the bank can be very valuable for learning how to get control of your finances. I still struggle with this one...
3. Sober Up Buttercup
A less popular way I would recommend unplugging from the globalist system is to be sober. When I say sober I mean no drinking drugs or addictions... I think it is sad as people who are sober are now in the minority. I know a few doctors that regularly do cocaine and police that go to work drunk. Is it any wonder we have as many issues as we do in society when most are not even sober?
Personally, my journey with sobriety started after University when I decided to quit smoking. It was so hard to stick to not smoking when I was drunk that I gave up alcohol for a year. WOW, what an eye opener that was!
I am glad to say that I now rarely drink, it allows me to not have any chemical dependencies and keep a clear mind. That year of true sobriety really showed me a lot about my body and about how affected we are by even legal substances. It has also significantly improved my mental health and given me much more clarity in terms of every day life.
4. Look After Your Health
Again, key for unplugging from the system! If you don't take care of your health and diet then you will become dependent on medication from the doctor.
Taking care of our bodies and minds should be job number one, everything else should be second to that. People who don't take care of themselves end up both mentally and physically sick. I also don't believe that we should rely on the NHS for our health information and I believe this starts with looking after your own body. We shouldn't need a 'Government recommendation' to inform our diet we should know that information for ourselves. When we don't take care of ourselves (which I have been guilty of) we end up becoming dependent on the government and large chemical companies to survive. We are at their mercy when it comes to the treatment we have access to and what medications we are given... that is not the way I want to live...
5. Spend Time in Nature
I am a big believer in spending more time in nature! This is one of my goals for this year as this is truly when I am happiest. I am a big believer that nature can heal and connecting with the earth can be a healing experience. Especially for those like myself who live in town, getting out into the countryside is so important...feel free to follow me on IG if you want to see pictures of my adventures!
6. Read More Non Fiction
Not the most exciting one but if you really want to unplug from the globalist system you need to start reading. The media and education system is so bias and limited that I would say there is better information in blogs and on YouTube! Something I really want to do is read and listen to my audible more this year (yes I know... one of the subscriptions I need to cancel!); I will be writing a reading list of everything I want to read/ listen to in 2022 next week so watch this space!
Reading more about the world we live in can be very enlightening and I do believe we should never stop learning, growing and changing. This can be changing our lives, opinions or clothes but it is important in my eyes. I don't want my knowledge of the world to come only from my state education and the state media. There are also so many beautiful works of literature that can change lives and open minds, why not read them? I will never forget reading Plato's republic for my Philosophy A level and it completely blowing my mind ... this year I want more moments like that!
7. Live of the Land
I have seen many people online posting about living off grid and growing there own food! I believe this is a brilliant way of both taking care of yourself and not buying into the whole globalist food system. For me, this is something I want to tackle as living in a rented house in town it is something that I struggle with. A large portion of people are not keen gardeners or don't have gardens, but I do believe there are ways of disconnecting from global agchem companies and the supermarkets even for people who don't have much space and time. Subscribing to veg boxes and meat boxes is a great way to divest funds out of supermarkets and into the local economy. Just moving towards buying a fraction of our food from the markets and local butchers etc can change communities and I don't believe (or I don't like to) that the only way to not support huge companies is to live some Ted Kaczynski esk life.
8. Build a Community
I recently had a thought about meaning and the importance of having meaning in life. One of the reasons I feel that life has become more stressful over the past few decades is the lack of communities. For many of us, living far away from our family and home is something we have come to except and normalize but this isn't normal. Building a community and having a community is an important part of living a more localized life, closer to the people we love and to our natural environment.
9. Stop Funding Globalists
Something that many of us who want to disconnect from the current consumer culture still find difficult, myself included is to stop giving large multinational companies our money. Spending our money in local shops and on local products enhances our communities and creates jobs. We have all got very lazy, buying things online and expecting next day delivery; moving away from funding large corporations like Mars, Nestle, Amazon etc can be a challenge especially if you are shopping in a supermarket and buying clothes on the high-street.
One of my guilty pleasures is a large latte from Starbucks which I do like to get as a treat occasionally. However, one of my biggest areas I want to tackle this year is making progress around food, drink and cooking - make more sustainable and responsible decisions. This seems to be the area I still struggle with but I know I am slowly making progress!
10. Know Your Ancestry
In the globalized world knowing who you are and where you are from is important and I am a big believer in traditions. This can be religious or cultural celebrations or food or even traditional dress, all are important ways of connecting our lives to the lives of our families and ancestors. It is my opinion and belief that not knowing these things causes a lack of meaning and purpose in our lives and even in some cases depression. For me my ancestry and heritage is very important to me and a huge part of how I see the world and myself. Luckily for me one of my uncles is obsessed with a book of our family that my great aunt gave him and decided to continue the book researching and adding in information about our relatives. This has been very interesting for all the family and it is thought provoking to learn about our distant relatives from a by-gone age.
I hope you all enjoyed my post of disconnecting from the globalist system! I have been thinking about writing this for a while and although it is slightly tong in cheek I hope some of it resonated :)

This has to be one of my favorite blog posts you have written! I found myself clapping and agreeing with every word. We tend to let the busyness of our lives make us not want to invest the time to make drastic lifestyle changes instead settling for quick simple solutions to distract us from escaping "the matrix" haha. Healthier food, canceling subscriptions, enjoying more outdoor activities are my biggest weaknesses and I plan to finally do something about instead of always talking!
Like the other comment from Tau this has been one of my favourites
