Thrift Tips to help you thrift like a pro

Here are some of my top tips to help you thrift like a pro and update your wardrobe on a budget. People often get put off from thrifting because it can seem overwhelming and difficult to find what you are looking for. I get most of my favourite clothing from Charity shops or second hand online. It can be over whelming to start with, however the more you go in charity shops the easier it becomes.

When I first started going into charity shops to look for things I hated the smell and the way everything is jumbled up. I found it stressful and most of the time I left empty handed.

Over my lifetime, these are the best tips I can give you to help you thrift like a pro and shop on a budget.

Tip 1

Never thrift shop when you are looking for something. The best way to thrift is to see it as a recreational activity rather than when you are looking for an exact item. You won't find it... it is just how the thrifting Gods work.

Tip 2

Dont be scared to haggle! If you are on Depop or in a charity Shop you can always haggle. It might not always be well received, but if you are buying more than one item it can save you some pennies. Car boots and vintage shops are also great places to haggle that price right down!

Tip 3

Pick the best places - typically town which are more affluant will have better clothes in the charity shops. That might sound bad but it really is true ! Nice towns are where you will find the best cloths to thrift - they will however, be on the more expensive side.

Tip 4

See it Buy it. Dont hang about if you see soemthing really special it wont last for long! Thrift shops are always full of people prowling for a bargain and there is nothing you regret more than the things you don’t buy. This thrift tip will keep you from being disappointed. Stuff goes fast so if you want something don’t wait!

Tip 5

When looking for the best things to thrift always look for quality over quantity. This is a top thrift tip if you are looking to resell items. Quality materials like wool or silk will always be timeless and always retail higher. Other good things to look for is vintage brands or high end or more sort after brands that people covet.
